Celebrations as Phoenicia crosses the equator
After almost 6 months in the southern hemisphere Phoenicia has crossed
the equator into the northern hemisphere enroute the passage from
St.Helena to the Azores. The crew marked this with a King Neptune
ceremony and a glass of wine whilst our sponsors, Delheim Wines, also
held a celebration in South Africa. Read

On Friday 16th April BBC Radio
Solent's H20 Show aired a feature on Phoenicia. The show, hosted by
record-breaking yachtsman Sir Robin Knox Johnson, featured an

Phoenicia arrives in Port Beira, Mozambique
On
Saturday 2nd January 2010 Phoenicia arrived in Beira, Mozambique. There
was a wonderful reception of press and locals welcoming in the crew. The
leg from Mayotte to Beira took 2 weeks to complete. To view the route

December 2009
Phoenicia completes longest expedition leg so far
On
Thursday 10th December Phoenicia successfully completed the longest leg
of the expedition so far. The passage took in total 47 days covering
over 3000 nautical miles. To read the

Phoenicia hits the headlines in Oman
Phoenicia made front page news in the Oman Daily Observer after sailing
into port Salalah last week. Omani journalists are proud to name
the Sultanate as the only country the ship will visit in the Arabian Gulf.

Education Programme now online
We are pleased to announce that we have
officially launched the Phoenicia Education Programme, a sub-section of
the website designed especially for schools. This will enable young
people across the globe to engage in a fascinating learning programme

Crew applications open for Phase 2
We are now recruiting crew for Phase 2 of
the expedition which will sail from Aden, Yemen in August 2009.

April 2009
Maritime
Affairs Authority provide Phoenicia berth
With
phase 1 of the expedition completed Phoenicia is now secured safely
alongside at the 'Maritime Affairs Authority' jetty in port Hodeidah,
Republic of Yemen. In August 2009 phase 2 of the expedition will launch
from Yemen to continue the circumnavigation of Africa.

Phoenicia to
break in Hodeidah, Yemen
The
ship will rest in Hodeidah for the next few months whilst waiting for
the prevailing winds to resume in summer.

threat of piracy is one of the forthcoming risks that "Phoenicia"
will face as she sails out of the Gulf of Aden. We have created a page on

Phoenicia has sailed back to Hodeidah
Battling strong southerly winds and facing
problems with the engine's shaft pins during the last passage towards Aden
the expedition team have made the decision to return to Hodeidah and review
their options.
