Philip Beale

Expedition Leader

Philip Beale (BA hons Politics from the University of Hull) was a former member of the Royal Navy before having a successful career in the city for over 10 years. He was employed by Robert Fleming & Co and then joined Morley Fund Management, part of Aviva PLC. In both organisations he held directorships of their investment management companies.

Philip is now working from his base near Lulworth Cove, Dorset, managing a number of investments in unquoted companies in the fields of educational publishing, technology, telephony, websites and commercial adventure expeditions.

He also takes time to pursue his passion for ancient maritime migrations and exploration and in 2005 was awarded Indonesia’s highest honour by president Megawati for services to Indonesian Culture as expedition leader of The Borobudur Ship Expedition 2003-04 (www.borobudurshipexpedition.com).

 

In 2008 Philip will lead a crew of 20 people and skipper the Phoenician Ship Expedition in attempt to recreate the first circumnavigation of Africa.
